Lucile Johnson Peters Excellence in Teaching Math Award – Nora Self:
This award was established by the late Lt. Col. Oren Lee Peters in honor of his wife to memorialize Lucile Johnson Peters’ love of education and excellence in teaching math by recognizing an outstanding Edmond math teacher each year.
Rees English Language Arts Award –
Kevin McDonald:
Established by founding Edmond Public Schools Board member Kenneth Rees, this award recognizes an outstanding English Language Arts educator in Edmond Public Schools in the areas of English, writing, and language arts.
Edmond Public Schools Rookie of the Year –
Emma Reid:
This award was established in 2021 by former Superintendent Bret Towne to honor exceptional new teachers who have made a remarkable impact in their first years of teaching.
Excellence in Leadership Award –
Catherine Johnson:
This endowed award was established in 2024 by Ruthie and Rusty Riggs to recognize exceptional leaders of Edmond Public Schools who inspire, guide, and empower those around them while making a lasting impact on students, colleagues, and the community.
Edmond Public Schools Foundation Volunteer of the Year –
Dana Elkins:
This award recognizes an EPS Foundation volunteer who has dedicated their time and talents throughout the year.
Edmond Public Schools Teacher of the Year –
Megan George:
First endowed in 2023 by the Student Ambassadors and community supporters, this award honors the dedication, passion, and impact of Edmond Public Schools educators.
Edmond Public Schools Support Employee of the Year –
Erin Axton:
This award was endowed in 2022 by the DeSpain family in honor of Kathi DeSpain, who dedicated 26 years of service to Edmond Public Schools.
Edmond Public Schools Hall of Fame Champion –
Ruthie Riggs:
This award recognizes a person whose commitment to excellence and tireless efforts have made a significant impact.
