2018 Hall of Fame Honorees Announced

The Edmond Public Schools Foundation will be inducting the newest honorees to the Edmond Public Schools Hall of Fame at a dinner on April 13, 2018, in the UCO Nigh University Ballroom. This year’s class include retired Edmond educator and music educator Missy Attebery, Young Alumni of the Year Kyle Harper, and 1975 Edmond Memorial alumnus and realtor Brad Reeser.
Established in 2014, the Edmond Public Schools Foundation Hall of Fame honors outstanding alumni and educators who have contributed to the success of Edmond Public Schools and to the betterment of education and the community in which they live. All proceeds from the Hall of Fame directly support programs that provide classroom grants as well as supporting students attending academic and artistic competitions. The reception begins at 6:00 p.m. and the dinner and induction ceremony begins at 7:00 p.m. The Hall of Fame also includes a silent and live auction.
Missy Attebery is a retired elementary music teacher. Attebery retired in May 2017 after teaching 40 of her 41 years in Edmond Public Schools, with the majority of her years spent at Chisholm Elementary. She has studied the methodologies of Zoltan Kodaly and Carl Orff and presented at many workshops and conventions including Oklahoma Music Educators Conference.  Oklahoma Music Educators’ Association (OkMEA) has recognized Attebery as “Exemplary Teacher” and she is a former Edmond Public Schools Teacher of the Year. Generations of Edmond graduates remember Attebery as instilling a love for music as well as being a source of continued encouragement.
Young Alumni of the Year Kyle Harper was born and raised in Edmond where he attended Orvis Risner, Cimarron Middle and graduated from Edmond Memorial. He earned a degree in Letters and summa cum laude distinction from the University of Oklahoma, and received his Masters and Ph.D. in History from Harvard University in Cambridge, Mass. In 2015, Harper was named OU’s Senior Vice President and Provost, serving as the Chief Academic Officer of the Norman campus. As a scholar, Harper studies the ancient and particularly the ancient Roman world. He has published three award winning books and his work has been praised and featured by the BBC and in The Los Angeles Times, The Atlantic, The Wall Street Journal, Smithsonian Magazine, and other leading outlets around the world. A committed teacher, Harper offers a range of courses on ancient history, early Christianity, and the Great Books.
Brad Reeser has lived in Edmond since 1963 where he attended Orvis Risner Elementary, Edmond Junior High and graduated from Edmond Memorial in 1975. He’s an accomplished and award-winning realtor as well as a philanthropist and ardent supporter of many organizations in the Edmond community. Since 1982, he has sold over half a billion of Edmond-area real estate and closed over 3,300 transactions. The Journal Record has named Reeser in the top five OKC Metro Area agents for the last decade and he has been inducted to the Realtors Political Action Committee (RPAC) Hall of Fame as well as been recognized with the Lifetime Achievement Award with the Edmond Board of Realtors. Reeser serves on the Edmond Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, Edmond Board of Realtors, Girl Scouts of Western Oklahoma District, among many other professional and civic memberships. He has also been a champion of Keller Williams Central Oklahoma Red Day Run that has a goal of raising $100,000 a year for local charities.
